The challenge
Like much of the financial industry, the bank was running services on Java versions (8/11) reaching end of support. Updating the stack the traditional way demanded 4 to 8 months of manual work per application, with the operational risk and opportunity cost that entails.
The solution
We applied Generative AI and advanced Prompt Engineering directly in the development lifecycle to carry out a full technical re-engineering: setting up the latest LTS JDK, migrating packages from javax.* to jakarta.*, and intelligent dependency management.
Our process generated a detailed change report for final validation by the bank's engineering team.
Results
The migration to the latest Java LTS version went from 4–8 months to 6–8 weeks (~80% less time), with production risk under control and business logic preserved. The bank came away with active long-term platform support, eliminated technical debt, and minimized security and compliance risks, with full traceability of every line of code changed.
What stayed with the client
A modernized stack on JDK LTS with extended support, technical debt cleared, and an auditable change report that gives the internal team full control and autonomy over what was migrated. Plus, the in-house capability of an AI-assisted migration methodology that can be replicated in future engagements.
